STOCKTRANS is major provider of cattle transport services to the Australian feedlot and meat processing industry. This company is a division of parent company JS TRANSPORT GROUP which is owned and operated by the SEPOS FAMILY near Newcastle in the Hunter Valley.
Stocktrans started its humble beginnings during 1988 at the north coast town of Grafton NSW . The first unit was a second hand Mack superliner and 2 deck cattle float which company founder Joe Sepos purchased at auction from Chinchilla in Queensland. This truck carried cattle from various NSW saleyards into Gilbertsons who at that time were the owners of the Grafton abattior. During the following 2-3 years the business had increased to 6 units with an office and workshop facility next to the railway line in south Grafton.
Stocktrans was born and flourishing with the 1994 aquisition of rival carrier KNIGHTS livestock transport at Casino. This move saw the fleet triple to 24 units and also presented a problem of where to park them all under one roof. A totally new depot was the solution and in 1998 both fleets were merged and relocated to their brand new purpose built facility in Glen Innes which is head office today. Our devoted staff also merged and moved up the mountain to Glen Innes and are still the backbone of operations today. B Doubles were introduced for thier massive efficiency to the cattle industry and multiple trailers became the norm.
1999 saw the takeover of local carrier Henry Cooke livestock transport and the establishment of local cattle transport services to the prosperous New England Region . 2005 saw the aquistion of Ron Finemore Transport (Lewingtons) northern NSW operations with depots in Casino and Inverell .Some Finemore staff has stayed on and are now area managers in both depots.
Early 2006 saw the purchase of David Grimisons Queensland operation which included a depot in Millmerran .This opened a new frontier for stocktrans in B Triple and RoadTrain operations throughout Queensland .
Late 2006 strenghtened the Stocktrans presence in Queensland with the acquisition of the Darling Downs division of Paul Hansens livestock tranport .This most recent purchase of equipment and customers will compliment and expand our fast growing feedlot and processor client base. Today Stocktrans runs a modern fleet consisting of 28 B-Doubles , 5 B-Triples and 2 Roadtrain combinations.
